Q.  I have never been to a B&B. Will I be overwhelmed by doilies and stuffed animals?

A.  While some of our B&B friends LOVE doilies and stuffed animals, we set out to decorate the Inn in an “un-fussy” style.

Q.  I am a total introvert and hate people. Do I have to "chat it up" with complete strangers?

A.  OK, we cannot guarantee that you won't see another human during your stay, but our Innkeeper is tuned into body language and knows when guests just want to be left alone and not "chatted up!" Our breakfast seatings are broken into three times, so you can even strategize for a time when no one else is in the dining room. And, there are many areas both inside and outside where you can find a private place to sit and read a book.

Q.  How old is the Inn? Is it structurally sound?

View from the Great Room into the Parlor.

A.  The stone section dates to 1736 and the wood section dates to 1760 with original wide-plank floors (none of them flat!) And, yes when the Inn was converted from a private residence, an extensive structural evaluation was conducted. And, don't worry, there is NO old house smell here!

Q.  Is Breakfast included- will it be like breakfast at the Hampton Inn?

A.  Breakfasts are included and NO it is NOT like breakfast at the Hampton Inn. Take a look at our website. This is just a sampling of what we serve each morning. Think about the best breakfast you have ever had- it might be better!

Q.  Do I have to pay for parking?

A.  No. Unlike the in-town lodging options, our parking is completely free and onsite!

Q.  Is this like an airbnb? Can I invite all my friends and throw a wild party?

A.  The Inn is BETTER than an airbnb. But, sorry, no wild parties are allowed!

Q.  How do I check in? Is someone sitting around waiting for me all day and night?

A.  We have a self check in policy. As your reservation date arrives, we will email our very straightforward check-in instructions. If you prefer to have a personal touch, just let us know and we'll do everything we can to accommodate you!

Q.  Can I bring some nibbles?

A.  Yes, and we have a small refrigerator in the Great Room you to store them in.  Just don't forget to take your leftovers with you when you go.

Q.  What does your property do to promote sustainability?

A.  We compost. We recycle. We use glass when available. We make our own soaps, detergents, and most of the food we serve. We shop at local farms. We ask our guests to refrain from washing linens when they are staying only a couple of days.

Q.  Is the Inn haunted?

A.  We don't consider it haunted, but there is a legend that came with the house and you can read about it in the back of the binder in your room.

Q.  Do you offer a shuttle service from the train station?

A.  Sadly no, but on the bright side, you do not have to wait for other guests to fill up a shuttle, nor do you have to go on a round trip of town to drop off guests! You can get a quick 15 minute Uber/Lyft from either Hamilton or Princeton Junction NJ Transit station.

Q.  Do I just show up for breakfast?

A.  We ask that you sign up for a time slot so that we can make sure your breakfast is served exactly to your liking and HOT. The main hallway has a large breakfront with a menu and sign up sheet on it. Please be sure to indicate which of the three offerings you prefer and what time you would like to sit down. Our chef will have it ready at that time so you are not late to start your day.

Q.  What the heck is a skeleton key. Am I going to be locked in a dungeon?

A.  Our locks are called rim locks and are in keeping with the history of the house. They are CHARMING. Don't LOSE the key. Or we'll have to send the local gendarme after you (or collect $250 for a replacement).

Q.  Have you had celebrities stay with you?

A.  Yes, we have been so fortunate to have many wonderful well known guests. We don't kiss and tell though, because we hope they'll come back!

Q.  Can I use the kitchen?

A.  Unfortunately, the NJ Department of Health prohibits us from allowing anyone in the kitchen.

Q.  These sheets are the softest sheets I've ever slept on! Where can I buy them?

View out of the window in the Great Room.

A.  We love our sheets too so we decided to distribute them.  See the innkeeper for more information or look at the price sheet and color swatches in our little Gift Store.

Q.  Do you have a Gift Store?  Where is it?

A.  It's more like a Gift Corner! Check out our offerings in the dining room where you have breakfast.

Q.  Can I go for a jog from the Inn?

A.  Yes, but you need to cross 206 (BE CAREFUL) and jog down Fackler to a housing development.  Otherwise, feel free to drive to any number of great jogging spots mentioned in the binder in your room.

Q.  Does your chef offer dinner?

A.  Unfortunately not at the moment, but there are MANY world class restaurants a quick drive away.

Q.  When I see someone in the office at the desk, am I allowed to walk through the room?

A.  OF COURSE! That room is a wonderful library full of great books to read, brochures about the area, and puzzles to work on! PLEASE take home a puzzle when you leave. Just ask the Innkeeper which puzzles are up for grabs.

Q.  Can I help with the puzzle in the office?

A.  Most definitely YES! Our innkeeper loves working on puzzles and enjoys your help, too.

Q.  What's the story about the barn?

A.  Ask the Innkeeper about that! It wasn't always on the property and had a hot air balloon in its history!

Q.  Where can I find information on EVERYTHING Inn related?

A.  We send out an email a few days prior to your stay with check-in, breakfast, WIFI related information as well as directions. Once you arrive, take a look at the binder in your room! There is even more information regarding your room, the Inn, the property and the Princeton region. We try to stick to the highlights, but PLEASE take a moment and read our emails and binder. It might just make your stay a LOT better!
