Central New Jersey Staycation!

So many reasons to make Central New Jersey your destination this Summer! Very few places offer the same history, culture, and natural wonders as Central New Jersey. All within an hour you can walk along the path of the George Washington, catch an award-winning production, stroll along world class sculptures, or take a jaunt to the Jersey Shore! We love our urban neighbors too: You can hop into Philadelphia or New York City for a day trip and be back “home” for the night. Make the Inn at Glencairn your home base and easily spend a week exploring all the region has to offer!

Home to signers of the Declaration of Independence, Princeton is filled with historical sites. No visit to Princeton is complete without admiring the architecture – especially Nassau Hall – on the Princeton University Campus. March along with Washington on his victory at Princeton Battlefield State Park, and see how state governors live at Drumthwacket. Stroll the impressive estate and grounds at Morven Museum & Garden – a National Historic Landmark that was home to one of those famous Declaration signers. Catch a show at the nationally-renowned McCarter Theatre. Or take a short drive to Hamilton to explore over 40 acres of art-filled gardens under clear blue skies at Grounds For Sculpture.

Only a mile down the road is the charming town of Lawrenceville. Chock full of fantastic restaurants like: Grazie Bistro, Vidalia, Acacia, Chambers Walk, and Naoki Sushi, Lawrenceville also boasts access to the Lawrence Hopewell Trail for biking and hiking, and Thursday night free concerts on the green.

Everyone loves Lambertville. HGTV, Forbes and USA Today have all recognized this small town, riverside gem for its charm and natural beauty. Antique-seekers and art fans will appreciate it as they search for one-of-a-kind pieces. Head to the outdoor Golden Nugget Antique & Flea Market or duck inside to browse the Antique’s Center at the People’s Store and A Touch of the Past Antiques. Enjoy some outdoor pursuits: Hike or bike a towpath that runs along the river for the full 70-mile length of Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park.

Home to Rutgers University, New Brunswick has culture, fine dining and fat sandwiches on the menu. Grab tickets to a performance at State Theatre, hailed a New Jersey Treasure by PBS or head back to the Zimmerli Art Museum. Hungry? Dine like a foodie at The Frog and The Peach, one of the 40 Best Restaurants according to New Jersey Monthly. Indulge in fine Italian fare at Catherine Lombardi, where the “gravy” takes days to make. Really hungry? Head to the home of the original fat sandwich, RU Hungry.

Flowers, farms and Jersey-fresh foods are all specialties of the Garden State - many of them in Somerset County. The 1,000+-acre Duke Farms is a must-visit for orchid lovers. Or if you prefer fields of lavender and adorable alpacas, head to Hidden Spring Lavender & Alpaca Farm.

Ninety Acres elevates farm-to-table dining by being located directly on the farm. You will enjoy seasonally driven, chef-crafted menus featuring the freshest of flavors. For those who would like to partake in some hometown brews, make your way to Jersey Cyclone Brewing Company and Burnt Mills Cider.

Zip out to one of our favorite shore towns - Spring Lake - and see why we love it! Take a tasting tour of its many ice cream shops - don’t miss iconic Hoffman’s Ice Cream - or treat yourself to an assortment of creamy ganache-filled truffles from Jean Louise Homemade Candies. Then work off those calories biking and walking on the boardwalk and expansive sandy beach! Feeling adventurous, take in a surf lesson at Hammer Surf School.
